Marine Coasts and Estuaries
Australian and New Zealand Chapter of the Society for Risk Analysis Conference 2008
To be held in the Finkel Lecture Theatre, Australian National University, the conference will address the interdisciplinary nature of risk by focussing on three key aspects of complex system management:
- Tools and methods;
- Policy and implementation; and
- Risk communication and social science.
The conference will be preceded by workshops on the 29th of September.

| National Committee on Coastal and Ocean Engineering (NCCOE) |

The NCCOE is a specialist committee within Engineers Australia. Its objective is to advance the science and art of coastal and ocean engineering throughout the general engineering profession and the community, by such means as facilitating initial and continuing education, assisting in relevant tertiary course accreditation, encouraging and setting priorities for research, ensuring the availability of technical standards, encouraging good coastal and ocean engineering practice, providing a forum and a network for the exchange of views and experience, formulating policy for Engineers Australia in the coastal and ocean area, fostering interaction between the profession and the public on technical and social issues. It sponsors a biennial Coasts and Ports conference and publishes guidelines on such topics as response to climate change. |

The Marine Coastal Community Network (MCCN) help build community, industry and government support for marine and coastal biodiversity, conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. The MCCN is a not for profit network with a national focus. MCCN aims to: inform, involve and connect community interests, the three spheres of government and industry to facilitate positive outcomes for the conservation of marine biodiversity and ecological processes, and the ecologically sustainable use of Australia’s marine and coastal environments. |

Seaweek 2008
Seaweek is a national educational campaign that aims to acknowledge our partners and colleagues involved in marine environmental education and further acknowledge actions for the conservation and sustainable management of the marine environment.
| Clarence Floodplain Project - e-newsletter | An innovative award winning project that has been actively addressing coastal floodplain issues for more than 10 years. Issues addressed include acid sulfate soils, wetland management, water quality, fish passage, and coastal lake management. More than 60 on-ground projects have been completed, and about 250 floodplain landowners are actively involved in the project. |
